The Dolphin Stadium is a must visit tourist destination when you travel to Miami. The Dolphin Stadium is now recognized as the LandShark Stadium. The original moniker Dolphin Stadium was used between the years 1984 and 1987 after which it was changed a number of times. The name was changed once again to LandShark Stadium in the year 2009.
Online portals on Miami travel information list the opening date of the stadium to have been the 16th of August in the year 1987 though the stadium itself had been more or less constructed by the 1st of December in the year 1985. The Dolphin Stadium was set up for a construction cost of $115 million and was built by the architectural firm HOK Sport.
The Dolphin Stadium has played host to a number of sports teams ranging from the Miami Dolphins of the NFL from the year 1987 to present day, the Florida Atlantic Owls of the NCAA in the playing season of 2001-2002, the Hurricanes of the University of Miami from the NCAA from the year 2008 to present day and so on and so forth.
