Downtown, also known as Central Business District, refers to the area that lies to the north of Broadway, south of 17th Terrace and east of I-95. The complex of the Federal courthouse comprises three courthouses. The courthouses are the James Lawrence King Building, the Tower Building as well as the David W. Dyer Building.

While the District Magistrate Court can be found in Dyer building, the district courts are there in the King and Tower building. The Dyer and Tower buildings are joined and the buildings are accessed at 301 North Miami Avenue or else the north entrance at the 300 Northeast 4th Street. The entrance to King building is situated at 99 Northeast. 4th Street.
The Wilkie D. Ferguson is situated west of the present complex of the courthouse at 400 North Miami Avenue. The building comprises two fourteen story towers that are connected by an atrium.
