The Florida International University began with about 5,667 students in the year 1972. Charles Perry was president of the university from 1965 till 1976. He was succeeded by Harold Crosby (1976-1979). Gregory Baker Wolfe was president of Florida International University from 1979 to 1986 and Modesto A.Maidique succeeded him in 1986. He is the current president of the university.
