One of the must-see places of attractions in Miami is the Jungle Island (earlier known as the Parrot Jungle Island). It is an independent island strategically located near the downtown district of Miami that is popularly known as the Village of Pinecrest.
This island gives you the opportunity to view the natural habitats, especially the tropical birds, mammals and reptiles. There are also field trips and educational programs that are arranged for the tourists at frequent intervals.
The Jungle Island is home to a large variety of parrots from different parts of the world. Besides, you would find different species of birds such as flamingoes, cranes, penguins, condors and macaws, among others. There is a wide collection of animals such as tigers, lions, kangaroos, llamas, as well as different varieties of apes and reptiles at the Jungle Island.

The tourist destination offers three shows everyday in the morning, afternoon and evening. There are shows about the Parrots and their lifestyle, feature and habitat at the Parrot Bowl known as Winged Wonders. The Jungle Theater hosts the Tale of the Tiger and the Gator X-Treme on alligators at the Serpentarium.
The Jungle Island is open to public everyday and you can visit the place anytime between 10 am and 6 pm. Tickets per adult costs around $30. There are special concessions for children from 3-11 years, senior citizens and military personnel.
