Everglades National Park

The Miami Everglades National Park is an important part of all Miami travel packages plans and is often listed in publications about Miami travel and tourism. On the 30th of May in the year 1934 the Government passed an Act which called for the construction of the Miami Everglades National Park.

The said park was to be acquired and developed via funding received through donations from the public. It was decided that the park would be celebrated as a true example of the wilderness, one wherein the flora and the fauna would be allowed and encouraged to flourish unhindered by excessive development.

While the main aim of the national park was to protect and preserve the environment and also allow the public a chance to enjoy the beauty of nature, it was decided that the park would not take on the "Recreation Park" role that many others of its kind had invariably adopted. 13 years after this act was brought about, in 1947, land for the national park was finally acquired through a number of proceedings.
