In the year 1896, the Lobby Pool Room witnessed a crowd of 400 people who had come together to vote towards the incorporation of Miami into the nation as an official city. Miami was added to the list of cities in the United States on the 28th of July in the year 1896. At this time the city knew a population of only 300 individuals. Known as 'The Magic City', Miami was initially settled in the year 1825. The famous Fort Dallas was constructed in the year 1836 and played a significant role during the events of the Second Seminole War.
