A Key Encounter

Key west Florida travel allows you to visit A Key Encounter, a non-profit organization. It is located in the upper level of the Clinton Square Market Mall at 291 Front Street Key West, Florida. It’s open Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 3pm. In winters, it is also open on Fridays from 11am to 3pm. The admission is free.

A Key Encounter is a good place for young children and school going kids. Families often visit this place to show the younger ones around. The place consists of a Nature Theater, Planetarium and a gift shop.

The jungle walk is a wonderful experience where one can find real exotic birds and animatronic creatures like manatees, crocodiles and a bobcat. A 22.5 foot skin from an anaconda is also available to be seen. The anaconda is said to have eaten a whole woman in Brazil many years ago.

The nature theater provides for some unforgettable wildlife footage. This is the main attraction of A Key Encounter. In the theater, one can see the rare endangered key deer, sharks, dolphins, eels and other different fish of Key Florida. The theater has three big screens showing different aspects of the presented footage with each screen showing a different aspect.

The underwater footage, donated by the Miami attorney Pat Ford, is known to be breathtaking. The theater also shows a twenty-minute movie of God’s creation. The clips are shown over and over again during the day. Admission to the theater is free and open six days a week.

There is also a dome planetarium that offers a state of art projection system for a exhilarating picture experience. A 20 minute film ‘The Ultimate Encounter’ is featured that presents the history of the telescope, constellations, etc with special emphasis on Big Dipper.
