Travel guides about Miami travel information often list the University of Miami as one of the biggest achievements of the city. The University of Miami enrolled its first 560 students in the year 1926. Its further development was stunted due to the occurrence of a major hurricane. For about 15 years, the University of Miami was in a poor state.
However, Dr.Bowman F.Ashe rebuilt the broken vision of the University and kept it on steady grounds through out the war after which it saw only growth. Under Dr.Bowman F.Ashe's presidency, half a dozen new courses were added. Dr.Jay F.W.Pearson succeeded Ashe in 1953. By 1962, the student strength was about 14,000. Soon after, an undergraduate program along with new courses to the post graduate level were added as well.
