Virginia Key Beach

Virginia Key Beach is one of the most attractive beaches located in South Florida. It was incepted in 1945 as the only sea beach in Miami which allowed African Americans. This beach is right off the Rickenbacker Causeway near the Miami Seaquarium.

Virginia Key is mainly an island in Miami-Dade County in Florida, United States. It is situated within the city limits of Miami. The Virginia Key was previously the southern end of a barrier island that stretched right from New River inlet in Fort Lauderdale to the north of Key Biscayne.

This beach attracts thousands of tourists from all across the world. This small and natural beach is a favorite destination for all those who want to have an exclusive Miami Florida travel.

This beach provides activities such as fishing, jet-ski, kayaking, sailboarding, snorkeling and windsurfing. Apart from this, it also has a fish restaurant called Jimbo's Place which is one of the most luring recreation venues located near the Duck Lake Road on Virginia Key.

Alongside the Rickenbacker Causeway is a long stretch of bay front which is famous for windsurfers as well as sailors. This is called the Hobie Beach after the Hobie Cats that set the sails from the sea shore.

The Miami Seaquarium located near the Virginia Key Beach is a marine park that has world's largest collections of marine creatures. Almost 10,000 marine animals are kept here. This seaquarium was opened in 1955. It exhibits various marine mammal shows. Lifeguards are always on duty from 9 am to 8 pm daily.
